Please join us to celebrate Jim
He was one of a kind. And he lived an absolutely full life.
Saturday, January 24th at 2:00p
We will gather Jim’s many friends from over the years to remember the man who inspired us, who made us laugh, and who was never too big to laugh at himself. Whether waving a magic wand, dealing cards, sailing the cityfront, or cruising the lake, Jim was at home as the center of attention.
So on this day, we’ll make Jim the center of attention one more time. Join us to tell stories, share laughs, and remember Dr. Fun.
“A magician never tells.”
“Reveille. Reveille. Now hear this…”
“Salute your captain!”
“Let me call upon the spirits…”

Of course he did! All you had to do was ask once and you’d be rewarded with thirty-two minute soliloquy about a few young Navy officers sailing north in the famed Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac.
“It was glorious.” -Jim

He absolutely did! As an ambitious 16-year old magician, Jim somehow convinced the local Buick dealership to let him drive one of their new cars while blindfolded as a stunt in the Lake Forest Day Parade. Then for his 50th birthday, Jim resurrected the legendary stunt at Palisades Tahoe, where he skied blindfolded down the slalom race course.
“Nothing here. Nothing here. Nothing here.” -Jim

Yes he absolutely did! During the “mentalism” phase of his magic career, Jim learned the mnemonic method to memorize the names and sequence of every exit along Interstate 80 from Sacramento to Truckee, CA. His passengers were always thrilled to learn that the Heather Glen exit is actually before West Paoli Lane in the Sierra Nevada foothills.
